Three steps to a video.
Vertical from the start
Built 9:16 first, so nothing needs cropping and nothing important ends up outside the frame. What you preview is what posts.
Cut to the hook
Trim to the section people actually need to hear. Reels live or die in the first few seconds, so start on the drop rather than the intro.
Looks like your release
Add your cover art, put your own footage behind the visualiser, and set accent colours so your grid looks like one artist rather than ten different apps.
Why the finished track sits unposted for two weeks
The track was done a fortnight ago. What is missing is not the music. It is fifteen seconds of video.
The bottleneck is never the music
Most producers have a folder of finished tracks and a much shorter list of posted ones. The gap is not quality or confidence. It is that posting to Reels requires a video, and making a video is a separate job with a separate skill set.
So the track waits. Then it waits some more, and eventually it feels stale enough that posting it seems pointless. That is how finished music quietly stops existing.
What actually needs deciding
When the video takes a minute instead of an evening, the decisions shrink to the ones that matter:
- Which fifteen seconds. Almost always the drop or the hook, never the intro.
- Which style suits the track. A dark, heavy tune and a bright melodic one do not want the same visual.
- Whether the cover art or your own footage sits behind it.
- That is the entire creative decision set. Everything else is export settings, and those are already right.
Posting cadence beats individual polish
For music promotion, consistency does more than any single perfect clip. An artist posting weekly with decent visuals builds far more than one posting quarterly with immaculate ones.
That only works if making the video is cheap in time. At twenty minutes a clip you post when you can face it. At one minute you post whenever a track is done, which over a year is a completely different number of releases in front of people.
